The president, the first lady and daughters Malia and Sasha arrived in Hawaii to celebrate christmas and the new year on the 19th December 2015.
The family visited Southern California on this visit to console grieving relatives of victims of gun violence. The president and his wife spent much of their first day, hearing stories from the victims relatives who were killed in San Bernardino. Where a couple opened fire in a workplace.
The president said “You had people from every background, every faith. Some described loved ones who had come to this country as immigrants, others who had lived in the area all their lives, all of them extraordinarily proud of the work they were doing to keep people healthy and safe” as employees of the San Bernardino County health department, he said. “As difficult as this time is for them and for the entire community, they’re also representative of the strength and the unity and the love that exists in this community and in this country.”
The FBI is investigating the attack that occurred on the 2nd of December 2015, at a holiday banquet held by the San Bernardino County public health department . This attack was planned and carried out by American born Syed Rizwan Farook (28) who worked at the Health department and his Pakistani wife, Tashfeen Malik (29). The attack killed 14 people, between the ages of 26 and 60 years. On a facebook post prior to the attack, Malik pledged her allegiance to a leader of ISIS.
