Chandler puts blame on Obama

November 16, 2010

Kentucky Congress representative Ben Chandler is not happy that with the Democrat party’s poor performance during the November 2 national elections, and blames House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Barack Obama. The Kentucky congressman was almost unseated from Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, and stood witness to 63 other fellow House Democrats who lost their positions in congress in the elections. Now on his third term, Chandler, who is the grandson of former baseball commissioner Happy Chandler, expressed his displeasure to the Lexington Herald-Leader that the president and the house Speaker were wrong in choosing health-care reform as their main focus.

Chandler says that the main thrust of governance should have been placed on restoring the U.S. economy, as that is the main responsibility of the leaders of both branches of government. He was disgusted at the fact the 60 Democrat congressmen lost their positions despite their astounding legislative capabilities. Chandler puts blame on the upper echelons for having allowed such a fate to befall his fellow Democrats. He even gave his full support for North Carolina Democrat Heath Shuler to lead the Democrat party who will now be the House minority starting January of next year.

The Kentucky democrat stated his disbelief that Pelosi was re-elected despite running against an obviously better candidate that is Shuler. Chandler himself, who voted for President Obama two years ago, barely won his seat over Republican opponent Andy Barr in one of the tightest races the nation has ever seen. Two years ago, Chandler won with 65 percent of voters choosing him over then representative and now president, Obama.
